This software has been made available to you subject to your agreement to the license. Use of this software constitutes acceptance of each of the terms and conditions of such license. 2. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS This complimentary copy of LT HelpDesk basically comes pre-installed. Just a few simple commands will get you running quickly. Install Blue Lance's LT HelpDesk (Complimentary Version only): a. Place the LTH_COMP.EXE file into a new directory. b. Run LTH_COMP to extract the program files. LTH_COMP.EXE is a self extracting ZIP file. c. Copy and UNZIP LTHFOX16.ZIP and LTHFOX32.ZIP into the same directory as LTH_COMP.EXE or in the DOS search path. d. Make a subdirectory under the LT HelpDesk directory called RPTS for the program to store report forms. 3. SYSTEM ACCESS LT HelpDesk has a built in security system that cannot be turned off. Therefore, we have given the installed copy some generic user names intended for initial entry only. Once access to the system is granted, the user should setup his or her own access names. Login as Supervisor: First Name: Last Name: SUPERVISOR Password: Login as Technician: First Name: Last Name: TECHNICIAN Password: Login as User: First Name: Last Name: USER Password: Note: Simply hit enter key to skip first name and password fields. 4. FOXPRO VERSION TO RUN AND WHERE TO GET IT LT HelpDesk Version 1.2 uses FoxPro Version 2.0 (Patch date: 06/09/92) If you own a copy of the FoxPro distribution kit: Put the following files in the search path or in the LT HelpDesk directory: FoxPro.ESL, FoxPro.ESO, FoxProX.ESL If you own a copy of the FoxPro development version: From the Program menu execute the DO menu pad and select the LTH.EXE file to run. LTH.EXE will automatically determine which version of FoxPro to run. If you elect to only install one version of FoxPro (16 vs. 32 bit versions), LT HelpDesk will only execute that version. The 16 bit version will run on all machines that have a minimum of 480K of memory. The 32 bit version will only run on 386 or above machines that have a least 2 Megs of free Expanded memory. The 32 bit version will not run under Windows. You can get a copy of the LT HelpDesk FoxPro runtime files off our CompuServe user forum under Netwire (GO NVENA). The file names are LTHFOX16.ZIP and LTHFOX32.ZIP. You may download one or both copies for use with LT HelpDesk. 5. REPORTS DIRECTORY All Ad Hoc reports are not stored in the main LT HelpDesk directory. That is why you must create a subdirectory called RPTS. This subdirectory should be located in the directory with the LTH.EXE file. Without this directory, the system will function normally until the user tries to enter the Ad Hoc Report generator. 6. WARRANTY REGISTRATION By registering this copy of LT HelpDesk you will receive advance upgrade information and the opportunity to participate in our Beta programs. HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS LT HelpDesk will run on any IBM compatible PC with a minimum of 480K of free memory. The 32 bit (Extended Version) requires a minimum of a 386SX computer with a minimum of 2MB free RAM. If running on an older 286 machine, be sure to allocate some Expanded memory for better performance. 8. NETWORK ISSUES LT HelpDesk is a fully multi-user database package. This package does not contain operating system specific routines and thus should run just fine on most networks. Novell Netware is the preferred network operating system. Some multi-user improvements have been noticed on some networks when the following file attributes are changed. For the files LTH.EXE, FoxProX.ESL, FoxPro.ESL and FoxPro.ESO, change the attributes to Shareable and Read-Only when multi-user problems arise. 9.
